In a tightly contested football match, Šibenik defeated Solin 1:0. Šibenik followed a possession-oriented game plan with a significant emphasis on long-range shots. Solin defended well but struggled to create effective counterattacks. Coach Carević’s strategic changes in the 77th minute led to a goal by Majić, securing Šibenik’s victory.
Šibenik – Solin 1:0
In the second half, Carević changed the system from 3421 to 4231/424 to score and then back to 3421 to protect the victory against the solid and defensive-oriented Granić’s team.

Šibenik started the game with 3421, a possession-oriented game plan, as usual. Three defenders (Dujmović, Gačić, Perić) were dictating Šibenik’s possession. The apparent game plan was to put Solin’s goalkeeper Buljan to a great test with long-range shots, which Hajduk’s youngster on loan in Solin kept out of his goal with few brilliant saves.
Solin defended well in low 442 or 4411 and failed to develop good counterattacks after Šibenik’s technical mistakes.
Šibenik created many opportunities via corner kicks, free kicks, and opened play, especially from long-range shots between the lines, where Majić was the biggest threat. The game plan was to take the shooting chance from around the 16-yard box whenever Solin’s defense wouldn’t provide a good block.
In the 77th minute, Carević made changes that made the victory for his team. Bačelić-Grgić, an attacking-oriented midfielder, came in for defender Josip Gačić, forming an attacking duo with Ivan Laća, who entered the game 10 minutes earlier. With this substitution and formation change, Šibenik gained bodies in the box. The formation change paid out after just 2 minutes. Božić penetrated the flank in a 16-yard box and gave a parallel pas to the first post, where Laća barely touched the ball and changed its direction. The ball came to the second post, where the man of the match, Majić, scored, leaving behind Solin’s fullback and using a bit of confusion and concentration loss in Solin’s defense.

After scoring a goal, Carević made another change. Ćosić vent in for Božić, changing the system back to 3421 and closing the game.

It was a deserved victory for Šibenik, although if Solin had been better at developing counterattacks, the game could have gone in another direction.
